How to get your painting right
When it comes to bathroom paint design you should think carefully before starting because a good bathroom paint design will save time and money. Painting bathrooms will take longer than you think so do not be fooled by the size of the room. So what should you do when you are bathroom painting?
The first thing to do is to get rid of all the clutter. "Cutting in "can be tricky and is more time consuming than using a roller, so remove everything you can. Towel rails, robe hooks and things like toilet paper are normally easy to remove. They are usually attached to a mounting bracket or the wall with very small set screws. If you do not have a small screw driver a pointed knife works well. Look to take down any mirrors also but be careful because so undoing any screws may break the mirror.
Put all the shampoo and other things from the vanity top, shower andbathtub into a cardboard box and put in another room.
A lot of light switches have a face plate that can be pried off with something flat, this means if you get paint on the switch it is covered when you put the faceplate back on. If not unscrew the light switch and paint behind after turning the power of course or even just buy a new light switch because you may be surprised how dull and old it will look against the new paint
Lights above a sink can be a problem. If you are ok with electrical things, pull the fuse and take down the light fixture. If this is not possible, remove as much of it as possible so there is less chance of getting paint on it
Take the top of the toilet tank off. Most of these have a slightly round top so you will not get a good paint line and this will prevent getting paint on it
If you have vents these should be removed even if you are painting them, you will finbd it a lot easier to paint them off the wall so you can get the fiddly bits.
Clean
Over time the residue of deodorant, hair spray etc can get on to walls. So it is a good idea to wipe the walls over a mild household cleaner to remove this residue so that it doesn’t interfere with the paint adhering.
Fill gaps before you paint
This is one thing people do not think about prior to painting, but it is necessary for a professional looking job. Chances are that there are some gaps where your countertop and cabinets meet the wall. . Use good quality paint able silicone caulking to repair these.
So now you are ready to select your paint so its time to get your bathroom paint design ready. Bathroom paint design is easy if you take your time and think about it.
