Kids bathroom
Designing a kids bathroom can be fun because you can let your imagination run free.
So what are some of the thing you should think about when you are designing or remodelling a kids bathroom?
The most important thing to consider is that a kids bathroom will have to be redecorated more often than an adult’s bathroom and it is possible you will want to turn it into an adult’s bathroom in the future. The kids might love the furry animal’s tiles on the wall when they are five but it might be different when they are ten or twelve.
Young kids love to have a bath, so try and retain the bathtub when renovating this room.If you put in a shower use a slide shower in it, this has a head that has a flexible tube that is plumbed into the wall, you turn it on and off by a separate handle. This shower head will also fit into a bracket that is attached to a rail on the wall so that you adjust the height of the shower head or be taken off. This is great fun for young children and good to get dirt from hard to reach places.
Children do not think about safety. Some tiled floors can be very dangerous when they have splashed water on them. Cantilevered vanity tips can be unsafe because it does not matter how many times you tell them not to they will stand on the counter top to get at something out of reach. Putting a stool in the kids bathroom is a good idea it makes it easier for the to use the basin and toilet. If the child gets up at night to go to the bathroom you could also consider putting in sensors that detect movement so you do not have to get up to turn the lights on or off.
Kids bathrooms can be as expressive or as mute as you want. If you are artistic you might paint a mural or each wall different. But what do you do if you want the same colour as the rest of the house. You could paint a feature wall in a different colour or you can turn any bathroom into a kid’s bathroom by using accessories. Bright kids towels, toys and framed pictures hanging on the wall can bring a bathroom to life. Painting things that can be moved like a stool in a kids theme can be another way to brighten up the room and these can be repainted or removed when the item becomes to childish.
Whatever you do have fun doing it and think like a child and let the fun begin. Paint hand prints on the wall if that’s what you want, you can get away with decorating ideas that you would not get away with in another room. If you do this you will end up with a kids bathroom that your children will love.
